What Does CertiPUR-US® Mean?

Ever wonder what’s actually inside your mattress, pillow, or couch? Before 2008, it was nearly impossible to know. Low-quality, imported foams were flooding the market, often containing harmful chemicals banned right here in the U.S.

That’s why the CertiPUR-US® certification was born. Created by a team of environmentalists, chemists, and industry experts, this nonprofit program takes the guesswork out of shopping. When you see the CertiPUR-US® seal, you know the foam inside your bedding or furniture has been rigorously tested by independent labs.

The CertiPUR-US® program is a certification program administered by a non-profit agency to help consumers feel confident that the polyurethane foam used in their mattresses and other home furnishings does not emit hazardous chemicals or gasses. Many mattresses made from inferior foam can emit harmful chemicals, a process known as "outgassing", and would not meet the strict requirements of CertiPUR-US®. At Aviya Mattress, we refuse to use any foam that hasn't been certified by the CertiPUR-US® program.

Aviya Mattress uses only foam that has been approved by the CertiPUR-US® program to ensure our customers are not just comfortable, but healthy, too. When you purchase an Aviya Mattress, you can rest assured that we take your family's health and safety very seriously and that we are always willing to go above and beyond the call of duty to prove that. CertiPUR-US® foams are:

  • Made without formaldehyde

  • Made without ozone depleters

  • Made without phthalates regulated by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission

  • Made without mercury, lead and other heavy metals

  • Low VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions for indoor air quality (less than 0.5 parts per million)

  • Screened for relevant chemicals, including flame retardants, that are classified as carcinogens, mutagens or reproductive toxins and are harmful to human health

  • Independent lab-tested and certified
